Unmask Me

I, for reasons, wear a very decorated and glittered mask everyday.
At school, by the streets, in interacting with people outside.
Only my family knows, how beastly I can be once I remove that mask.
I have to hide it. I have my reasons.

Patience is a virtue, that I think I wasn't given at all.
Irritation, fury, anger and restlessness;sizzle in me.
Long lines, shitty conversations, offensive actions and comments,
made my sheep-wool into wolf's fur.

It's very hard, because I don't want to hurt anyone.
Thus, I decided to decorate my own mask.
Glittered, be dazzled and bead-filled,
And something that will conceal some parts of my scary form.

Everytime someone would just throw negative to me,
normally, I would have to answer back tactlessly, no holds barred;
But I am nice! Fine they piss me! I won't stoop to theirs.
Smile, chin-up, be proud you can pretend to be humble.

Hurt me or else I'll--
Wait! I'll try to keep it easy on you. You wasted my damn tears.
I'll play the victim part for you, because honestly,
I have killed you a thousand times inside my head.

People around me think, that I'm the stupid and irritating person,
and I am laughing about it. I know how they play,
but they don't know my game.
I will play it, so that I'll have my clean slate.

My mask is made of steel, not plastic.
I just simply don't want to hurt anyone.
I love peace, but I know I am not able to maintain it.
That's why I have to hide me.

It's very hard to be inside of this thing,
but I made this with hard work.
I spent long years to put jewels on it,
but by the end of the day it still hurts.

But one thing, never stopped me from looking forward,
to the day that I will be released of this heavy mask I'm wearing.
That is the will to beautify my beastly form inside,
until I can be ready and free.

The day that I will unmask me.

St. Paul University Manila's College of the Music and Performing Arts played, with their different musical abilities, the Pirates of the Caribbean's most famous original soundtrack. The intermission number happened during the Academic Recognition of the University for the 2nd Semester of the last school year. The music ensemble really showed their outstanding uniqueness among other students in this presentation.
